So a few weeks ago, I participated in my first Love-A-Thon challenge in the book community. I can’t say enough good things about this event, I absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to participate in next years.
One of the ‘Challenges’ was a book shelf challenge for Youtuber’s. A lot of bloggers were also doing this, and I really wanted to get into it too, but school was so hectic that I had to postpone it, but here it is! You pick books based off of the colour of their spines and then flip to the page and the way the format is laid out for each book!
Love-A-Thon Bookshelf Challenge! You’ll need to pick books based on the color of their spines as listed below, and then follow the prompts
Flip to page 119, and find the first line of the third paragraph. This line is the first sentence of a book about you.
“I thought about how to answer that for a while”
Paper Towns-John Green
Flip to page 3. The first name you see when you crack open the book is your book BFF.
Since there actually is no names on pages 2/3 of this novel I went a few further to find one.
World War Z-Max Brooks
Flip to page 185. The first body part mentioned is where your superpower is.
“His black eyes flicked back and forth”
Would be a pretty cool superpower to have one with my eyes
A Clash of Kings-George R.R. Martin
Flip to page 238. The first place mentioned is where your book is set.
“Tommy Lawson, in my house”
A whole novel taking place in my house? I hope this house is a giant mansion or castle..
Flip to page 45. The first name you see when you crack open the book is your book boyfriend/girlfriend.
“Jack Culpepper” Decent name for a book boyfriend, I’ll take it.
Flip to page 77. The first adjective used describes your book boyfriend.
“stalker-spook” Well this isn’t a very good adjective for a boyfriend.. could be interpreted in a far too many ways.
: Flip to page 94. The first name you see is your fictional nemesis.
Flip to page 216. The first object you see is your weapon of choice.
“the scratchy pillow” Wow. What a weapon. I mean I could do some real damage of scratching people with a soft, plush pillow…
The Pact-Jodi Picoult
Flip to pages 198, 228 & 146, and find one name on each page. These people will be your apocalypse squad.
Christian, Rivka, Franz
The Storyteller-Jodi Picoult
Flip to page 28, and find the second sentence of the fifth paragraph. This is the last thing you will ever say in your book. (Or is it?)
“Liz wrinkles her nose”
Confessions of a Wild Child-Jackie Collins
Well that wasn’t a dramatic ending.
This was a super fun exercise! I wish some of these turned out a little better, but I have limited book options with all of mine still stored at my parents place until (hopefully) this summer when I move (again)! If you want to participate in this too, feel free to copy and paste and link back to me! I loved reading these from the Love-A-Thon when bloggers joined in on this challenge as well!
